The Lord willing, on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 7:00 am (EST), there will be a meeting held that may be of interest to the audience of this blog. In obedience to their God (2 Tim. 2:15), Aaron Lim and other saints in Singapore have been diligently studying the controversy in the PRC. Having finished studying the controversy, they now plan to conduct a meeting where questions posed by the brethren in Singapore will be asked to Revs. Langerak and Lanning. If there is time permitting, those observing the meeting will be given the opportunity to ask questions. With Mr. Lim’s permission, I attach the link (below) to those who may be interested in joining. The meeting will also be recorded for those who cannot attend. I am told they hope to make this Bible study a regular weekly meeting to study topics pertaining to the controversy.

Indeed a blessing that we can join in with fellow saints across the world to study these doctrinal truths and grow in the knowledge of our God.

  1. I John says that keeping his commandments do play a role in the believers assurance. I think if a believer looks at his works on their own merit, he couldn’t find any assurance there. However, if he is trusting in Christ alone for righteousness then his works assure him he is one of elect. Without them the believer must assume his works faith is dead and you can’t have assurance of salvation without faith

    Your snark is unbecoming.
    The Revs. Langerak and Lanning answer your question in the second Q&A session.
    The only comment I would make is that your works must be different than my works. If you want me to put my works under a microscope so I can obtain some greater level of assurance you will drive me right into despair. Please, please point the doubting believer to Christ and his righteousness.

  3. Your dearest Rev. Langerak says that the Westminster Confession goes too far when it says that good works can assure the believer of their salvation. Langerak then goes on to say that the Bible and the Three Forms do not use this language. Can you ask him if he has read Canons of Dort Head Five Article 10? “This assurance, however, is not produced by any peculiar revelation contrary to, or independent of the Word of God, but springs from faith in God’s promises… from the testimony of the Holy Spirit… from a serious and holy desire to preserve a good conscience and to perform good works.” Seems to me that good works are a tool that does assure us. Not because they are our works, but because they are God’s work in us. They are a testimony of His work. And if you have any questions on that, read Homer Hoeksema on this Article in his exposition on the Canons. Ask Langerak if he is going to throw out the Canons as well while he is on his way to forming a new theology and proper personality cult. Once again, Langerak will always be right about everything and everyone else will be wrong. UNLESS that person adopts absolutely everything Langerak believes word for word.
